Subgroups

Clay Homeschoolers is organized into smaller subgroups so that members may interact with others with similar goals in various activities.  Subgroups vary in the type and amount of activities offered.  Regardless of subgroup affiliation, all members are welcome to participate in whole group activities throughout the year.

Below you will find a description of this year's subgroups (2008-2009)

Subgroup 1:
This subgroup led by Laura is a Christian based support group that with children that range in age from preschool to high school.  This subgroup provides encouragement and building up one another in the homeschool journey.  Also, there is a wonderful opportunity to build Christian relationships/friendships through such things as field trips, recreation days, community service projects, mom's night out, and family day.

Subgroup 2:
This subgroup led by Laurie is in its second year.  We are a Christian based group with about 7-10 families.  The ages of children range from first grade to seventh grade although we welcome all ages.  We do not require that you attend a certain number of events.  Our activities include monthly field trips, park days, special events such as Snow Day and Breakfast Club.  Our Breakfast Club is a monthly meeting where everyone brings a breakfast item, we eat together and then the students do their schoolwork together while the moms have our monthly planning meeting.  We also have a mom's night out that we do periodically.  Come join us for a close knit group that has lots of fun together!

Subgroup 3:
This subgroup is led by Kim with activities focusing on opportunities for learning and fellowship among families with elementary school age children.  Members of this group are asked to regularly participate in activities (at least one or two per month).  The subgroup will offer:  regularly scheduled park days, field trips, mom's meetings (topical discussions/sharing times), mom's night out and seasonal parties.  Members of this group may also participate in our annual group year book.  This group maintains an active Yahoo Group list/site for ongoing communication and storage of helpful files and web links.

Subgroup 4:
This is the "low profile" subgroup.  This group plans no field trips, park days or meetings of its own.  Members are free to participate fully in Clay Homeschoolers large group activities that are not subgroup based (i.e. testing, open field trips, achievement night, etc.)  Some subgroups will open their activities and field trips to the large group that you are free to participate in.  You can keep abreast of all news and events via email.  (By providing self-addressed envelopes, newsletters can be mailed to members not having email.)  Members of this group generally have their fellowship needs met in other places and only wish to participate in the large group activities.
